What is progressive muscle relaxation (PMR). PMR is a way to release tension and relax each muscle group in the body. Everybody holds tension and stress somewhere in the body. By using the technique of PMR you learn to slowly release tension in the body then relax the muscles in the body. This technique helps to achieve deep relaxation, control stress and anxiety, help to attain a quality sleep and relief of insomnia, and many other physical conditions such as chronic pain, headaches and stomach aches. By being able to relax the muscles with this technique, you can reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety and have a better quality of life.
